balloons soaring under the ceiling. weird shops that you stumble upon with skeletons and taxidermy animals you’ve never seen before. snow. botanical gardens. hot air balloons. the feeling of sitting on a train going somewhere, almost always paris. that tiny period of time when the cherry blossoms bloom every spring, that’s when my hearts beats the hardest. eating breakfast for hours, with all types of favorite breakfast types represented; pancakes, eggs, french toast, huge smoothies, home made cereal, buckets of tea. hugging and making out a lot and for a long time. sleeping at least eight hours a night. picnicking and hanging out in the park. little animals with warm bellies and soft fur. films from before even my father was born. paris. tiny doughy fat babies. everything gold, right now my toenails are in gold, i think about that even when i’m wearing tights and shoes. old books that smell like libraries, with love declarations longer than my arms. peonies, my absolute favorite flower, it’s going to be in season soon and then i’m going to spend all my money on them. it really is the most beautiful flower in the world. getting letters in the mail, which doesn’t happen all that much anymore since living in the uk, but sometimes they pop up, a little white envelope from a blog reader with maybe a milk chocolate or a film or a nice letter about the greatness of being alive. i love sending mail too, preferably postcards from paris with old men and rabbits on them. walking in forests in fall, picking blueberries and mushrooms and just walking forever until you’re out on the completely wrong side.
what about you? what do you love? it can be anything. what makes you smile in the middle of the week? even when you’ve burnt your spaghetti or just having a rough day in general. i would be so grateful if you would write about that in the comments, both for my own curiosity but also for a project i’m planning.
